Does OHIP or my insurance cover the cost of my hearing services?

No.  OHIP does not cover any costs except for $500 per ear towards the purchase of a hearing device.  Depending on the insurance provider, the coverage is usually only towards hearing devices.  All other fees are not covered.

How long does a hearing test take?

A hearing test usually takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on the severity.

Do we accept government assistance or workers compensation?

Yes.  We will work with your case workers or WSIB to acquire amplification if needed.

Is there a fee for ear wax removal?

Yes. There is a fee of $35 per ear.  If there is no wax there is a fee of $15 for the checkup appointment.

What is the age requirement for a hearing test?

We here at Windsor Family Hearing, test people of all ages! With our experienced Audiologist on staff, we now offer pediatric testing for infants and children.

For adult testing it is typically recommended to start testing your hearing at the age of 50.

Do I need a referral from my doctor for a hearing test?

No. It is not required to have a referral to get a hearing test.  You can call and make an appointment.

What is expected for an ear wax removal appointment?

We ask for the person to oil their ears with olive oil 3 to 4 days prior to the appointment.  This will soften the wax and allow for easier removal.

Is there a fee for a hearing test?

Depends. At Windsor Family Hearing, it is $40.00 for a full adult hearing assessment and $140 for a pediatric hearing assessment (ages 0-12). Any employment testing with required paperwork is $50.00. Some insurance providers cover the cost of hearing testing.
